ALGERIAN: German musician Djamel Laroussi is known for his unique left-handed playing on a right-handed guitar, as well as his prolific repertoire spanning multiple genres and languages. He is touring India for the first time, kicking off with a performance at the Amphitheatre, Technopark in Thiruvananthapuram, on February 5.

He will be joined by a band of musicians from five different nationalities, who together will conjure a global musical experience blending jazz, Indian pop, classical, folk, Bossa nova, and more. The artists include Mark Baynes (keys), Manjit Singh (tabla), Jeffrey Garus (drums), Ebi Michel (bass), Daljeet Kaur (vocals), Aakash Binu (vocals and guitar) and Shikhar Naad Qureshi (djembe).

Adding a local flavour to the evening, there will be an improvised jam with Kerala folk band, Earthlore by ARPO.

These diverse genres will be woven together in a 2.5-hour performance, scheduled after the techie bands conclude their competition at the Tech-a-Break youth festival. The concert is a joint production by London-based Advaitha Events and Takadimi band from Auckland.
