PLASTIC-FREE POOJA SET FOR THIS FESTIVE SEASON

Oh Scrap Madras has curated gift hampers that are created in collaboration with small sustainable brands based in Chennai. Dominique Lopez from Oh Scrap Madras tells DT Next, “This year, we have three gift hampers. All products are local, natural and upcycled. There is a plastic-free pooja set, kitchen set and bathroom set. In the pooja set, there are five leaves, five roses, five marigolds and two vegan candles. Flowers and leaves are made of upcycled fabric. The plastic-free kitchen gift hamper is curated with 250g muesli, two elastic bowl covers, kitchen wipes, and a natural dishwash soap bar. For the bathroom gift hamper, we have added a bamboo toothbrush, natural toothpaste, face wipes, a turban hairband and a 100g natural soap. We have curated all the hampers to be practical and useful while also being gentle to the planet.”

She adds that the idea is to bring conscious, mindful and plastic-free alternatives this festive season. Dominique believes that eco-friendly gifts are one of the ways to instill a sense of conscious living in people. “We help/guide people to take mindful decisions for gifting.”

PRACTICALLY SUSTAINABLE HAMPERS CAN BE REPURPOSED

Paper Thundugal has come up with special ‘Happy Packets’ for this Deepavali. They have curated two practically sustainable hampers - for family and for individual packets. “In the family hamper, there are scented soy candles in a seashell (which can be repurposed), dolls (it can be used as a phone stand as well), a small-size jamakkalam (that can be used as a work mat), a jar of mango jellies and a printed greeting card (that has beautiful design from handloom sarees). In the smaller pack, we have homemade preserves (strawberry and orange chilli), a greeting card, and scented candles (cranberry, banana or lemon grass scents). Hampers can be personalised to your preference,” says Varsha Sivakumar, designer and founder of Paper Thundugal.

HANDMADE PRODUCTS ARE FRIENDLY TO PLANET

Bottled Bliss is curating customised gift hampers for Deepavali. Mansi Mehta from Bottled Bliss says that the client can choose from a vast range of handmade personal care products. “In addition to this, we have also introduced curated food hampers that will have snacks, savouries, dry fruits, chocolates and sweet treats. What’s more popular is our detox green tea hampers. Our teas are blended in-house in exotic flavours and are a huge hit. Detox hampers include foot soaks, green teas, our handmade candles and potpourri. We have only used glass bottles to pack the products,” says Mansi.
