CHENNAI: Three persons including a staff with a private airline were killed in different road accidents involving government buses around the city on Saturday.

In one incident on GST road near Tambaram, a 43-year-old man was killed after his two-wheeler got knocked down by an autorickshaw. The motorist who fell on the road was run over by a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus which was trailing the bike. The deceased was identified as Ezhumalai.

A native of Cheyyur near Tiruvannamalai, Ezhumalai was working as a contract staff with an airline in Chennai airport. He had rented a house in Urapakkam and was staying there.

On Saturday, he was on his way to Meenambakkam when the accident happened.

On information, personnel from the Chromepet traffic investigation wing secured Ezhumalai’s body and sent it to government hospital in Chromepet for autopsy.

In another accident near Oragadam, a 42-year-old man who was on his way to work for his night shift at a factory in Oragadam was killed after a MTC bus ran over him. The deceased was identified as Kumar, a resident of Manimangalam. Police said that his bike hit a cow which crossed the road and he fell down. The MTC bus which was trailing the bike, ran over Kumar leading to his death.

In another incident near Poonamalee, a 24-year-old man was killed after his two-wheeler got hit by a government bus near Parivakkam along Poonamalee-Bengaluru Road. The deceased was identified as Sam of Korattur, who works in a pharmacy in his neighbourhood.

On Saturday evening, he was riding towards Poonamalee when the accident happened. Poonamalee traffic investigation have registered a case and are investigating.
