Kindness carnival to have engaging workshops, insightful talks

CHENNAI: The Kindness Foundation is a non-profit thinking organisation founded by Mahima Poddar with a vision to create kinder communities worldwide. “We believe that kindness is not just a fancy add-on, but a fundamental must-have for human survival and existence. It is sewn into the very fabric of our DNA and all we really need to do is to find ways to unleash it. And what better way to do this than through the youngest members of our society? When children talk, people stop and listen. That’s why we need to keep teaching kindness to children from an early age as an integral part of their education and daily life,” says Mahima.

The Kindness Foundation is hosting a Kindness Carnival in the city on October 15 at Fika, Adyar, to help children and adults recognise shared humanity and instill in them the power of kindness. “Through our experiential activities and products (mostly run by the youth), we hope to spotlight the essence and importance of kindness in everyday life. Our goal is to open up minds, expand perspectives and break stereotypes. In order to help deepen the understanding of ‘kindness’ and to help unpeel and unpack its various facets, we have put together 10 themes under which all stalls/workshops, etc, are participating.” The themes are inclusivity/acceptance, boundaries/respect, compassion, integrity, tolerance, forgiveness, gratitude, truth, service/charity and social well-being. Apart from various stalls and workshops, there is also an open mic opportunity for the youth.
