CHENNAI: City Police on Tuesday arrested a 38-year-old history sheeter for robbing cash from a tea stall and vandalising the stall as the owner refused to pay him 'mamool'.

The arrested person was identified as J Vigneshkumar, who calls himself ‘Virugai’ Vicky and indulges in rowdy activities in the neighbourhood.

Police sources said that Vigneshkumar is the son of yesteryear Tamil actress, Maya.

On Monday, Vigneshkumar went to a tea stall on Kaliamman Koil street in Virugambakkam and demanded money from the owner, Sermadurai.

When Sermadurai refused, Vigneshwaran attacked him and then took Rs 1,500 cash off the cash chest. The rowdy then took a weapon from his car and then vandalised the shop before fleeing.

Based on Sermadurai’s complaint, Virugambakkam police registered a case and arrested Vigneshkumar on Tuesday. Police recovered the weapon used to vandalise the shop and also his car.

He was produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
