CHENNAI: The Director of Medical and Rural Health Services of the State Health Department on Monday stated that hospitals, clinics, nursing homes doing procedures under Assistive Reproductive Technology or Surrogacy Acts in the State should be registered with the Government of Tamil Nadu under the ART/Surrogacy Act 2021 on or before October 24, 2022.

Any establishment failing to register under the Act will face necessary action. A release from the directorate stated that the State government has appointed the appropriate authorities under the mentioned Acts and the same has been notified in Government Gazette.

A copy of the application in the prescribed format, already submitted to the National Registry for running ART or surrogacy procedures, will be submitted to the concerned district authority or joint director of health services along with the prescribed fee of Rs 50,000 for ART Bank and ART Clinic level 1, and Rs 2 lakh for ART Clinic level 2 and a surrogacy clinic.

Receipt of the fee payment and application must be enclosed and submitted to the district authority.
