Blade of cutting machine breaks, slits man’s throat and kills him

CHENNAI: Meeran Sahib (48) died after the cutting machine blade snapped and slit his throat near Pallikaranai on Tuesday. A resident of Ottiyambakkam in Pallikaranai, Meeran went to his sister’s house in the same locality on Tuesday to check a block in the water pipeline. He took a cutting machine and was cutting the floor to take the pipe outside to identify the block. Police said due to excess heat, the blade of the machine broke and cut his throat. Soon, his relatives called the ambulance, but he was declared spot dead by paramedical team. The Perumbakkam police team that visited the spot retrieved the body and sent it for autopsy to the Chromepet GH. A case has been registered and further inquiry is on.
