CHENNAI: The Greater Chennai Corporation has lodged police complaint against three persons, who were collecting money from the public for using public toilets in the city.

According to a Chennai Corporation press release, complaints were received from public against persons collecting money from users in some of the public toilets. "On Wednesday, it was found that money was being collected from the users in a public toilets in Kulakarai Road Junction, Madhavaram High Road and Kamarajar Road. Police complaints have been lodged against three persons," the release said.

Similar police action will be taken against the persons collecting money from public, the civic body warned.

The release added that public toilets are free for public use and boards have been placed at the facilities announcing that there is no charges for using the toilets.

Presently, the civic body maintains 943 public toilets across the city with 7,590 seats.
