

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian on Wednesday released the merit list for Postgraduate medical degree and diploma (MD-MS/diploma) and Postgraduate Dental Degree (MDS) and Diplomate of National Board (DNB) for the year 2022-2023 at Omandurar Government Medical College.
The applications for the medical courses were available online from August 19 - 30. "The counselling will begin from September 29 to October 6 online, and the schedule will be published for the same online. On the first day, the counselling will be held for the differently-abled category," said Subramanian.
A total of 1,162 seats in government colleges for MD/MS/Diploma, 763 seats in Management Colleges for MD/MS/Diploma, 31 seats in government colleges for MDS. There are 296 seats in self-financed colleges and 94 DNB for a total of 2,346 seats. Also, for the above courses, there are 23 government colleges and 16 self- financed colleges, where a total number of 11,178 students have applied.
For MBBS and BDS, the registration started on September 22 and they will close on October 3. Till Monday (September 27), a total of 21,183 applications were downloaded, of which 12,429 forms were submitted online.
"The merit list is likely to be released after two days when the registration is closed. And the date of counselling for Tamil Nadu will be announced after the union government counselling schedule," stated the Health Minister.
Talking about the flu cases in the State, the minister said that the number of fever cases has decreased in the last two days. On Monday, around 60 - 70 AH1N1 cases were reported, whereas yesterday it was reduced to 56 cases. So far, a total of 421 patients are treated at government, private hospitals and isolated.
For dengue, as many as 344 people have been tested positive so far. The state health department has tested over 1.72 lakh samples since January, of which more than 4,000 cases in TN.
