Actress Jessica’s mobile phones recovered, sent to forensic team
CHENNAI: City police have allegedly recovered three mobile phones from a friend of actress Powlen Jessica, who died by suicide at her apartment in Virugambakkam a week ago, and sent them for forensic analysis.
Police sources said the friend, identified as Prabhakaran, who was the first person to find the actress dead, allegedly took away an iPhone from the home and did not inform the police about the same.
Police have also summoned the actress’ boyfriend, who is in Pudukottai, in connection with her suicide.
Three months after her first role as a heroine in a movie, 29-year-old actress, A Deepa alias Powlen Jessica, allegedly died of suicide at her apartment in Virugambakkam on September 18. A native of Telangana, Powlen was living alone at an apartment in Mallaigai Avenue, Virugambakkam, police said.
After a string of roles as a junior artiste in several films, Powlen acted as a lead heroine in a Tamil movie, ‘Vaaitha’, which had a direct release on an OTT platform in May this year.
Police have recovered a suicide note from her room in which she allegedly stated that she was upset over the lack of support in her life.
