Anna Univ to host conference on women empowerment

CHENNAI: Anna University will be hosting a state-level women empowerment conference, especially for female students and young entrepreneurs on Saturday. The conference will give guidance on UDHAYAM, GST, Pan Card, and GEM portal procedures and registration.

In addition, a workshop and exhibition will also be organised by the university's Centre for Empowerment of Women and in association with a few women's forums. Experts from various fields will share their experiences about insight into entrepreneurship.

The one-day seminar will also guide the women participants on UDHAYAM, GST, Pan card, and GEM portal procedures and registration. The programme will also impart knowledge of central and State government schemes and subsidies through industry experts.

Accordingly, a skill development workshop was also organised in which the participants will be taught to make herbal products, soap, shampoo, and body lotion.

The exhibition will also showcase indigenous products made by women entrepreneurs in about 50 stalls. In a bid to encourage their work, awards for the best woman entrepreneur, social worker, and agricultural practitioner will also be given.

Officials from Anna University also said since there were no registration fees, hundreds of women participants including students is expected to participate in the event. The participants can hold any UG or PG degree besides PhD. from any branch.
