CHENNAI: For the second consecutive day, motorists are facing difficulties due to shortage of diesel in Chennai petrol bunks.
According to a Daily Thanthi report, most of the petrol bunks in Chennai were seen a “no-diesel” board today as well.
"There has been a sudden shortage of diesel due to the lack of supply of crude oil and shortage in distribution. It is only temporary. This issue will be resolved soon," an oil company official said.
Accordingly, for 108th day in Chennai, petrol and diesel prices still remained unchanged for the last 3 months, one litre of petrol is being sold at Rs 102.63 and one litre of diesel is being sold at Rs 94.24.
Oil companies fix the prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas based on the prevailing crude oil prices in the international market and the value of the Indian rupee against the dollar.
