CHENNAI: Domestic flight services from Chennai to Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kochi, and Mysore are being increased from September.
Akasa Air which had already started flight operations in Mumbai and Ahmedabad has now decided to operate the flights from Chennai airport. Sources said from September 10 Akasa Air would begin its operations from Chennai to Bengaluru.
Around 4 flights would operate in addition to the 18 flights that have been running between the two cities every day.
Further, from September 15, two flights to Mumbai would be operated from Chennai, which would increase the daily services to 40. Similarly, the airlines had also decided to operate flights to Kochi and Mysore from the end of this month.
Airport officials feel that this increase in flights would be very helpful for passengers who would be searching for last minute tickets during an emergency trip.
