CMRL passenger footfall rose by 3.5L in August

CHENNAI: The passenger ridership in Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) witnessed a surge by 3.5 lakh in August as compared to July. CMRL recorded passenger footfall of 56.66 lakh in August while over 53.17 lakh in July.

Meanwhile, on August 29, 2.20 lakh passengers travelled in Metro trains, recording a single highest passenger flow for the month. And from January 2022 till date, about 3.57 crore passengers have commuted in Chennai Metro, stated CMRL press note.

Subsequently, for August, 17.95 lakh passengers utilised QR code facility and 34.42 lakh passengers used travel cards.
