24-year-old kills friend during drunken brawl in Perungalathur

On Saturday, he was admitted to a private hospital in Tambaram and a blood clot was found on his head. Later, he was referred to the Rajiv Gandhi government general hospital and was admitted to the ICU.

CHENNAI: Police arrested a 24-year-old man who allegedly killed his friend in a drunken brawl in Perungalathur on Monday.

The deceased was Saravana Kumar (23) of Tuticorin who was working in a scrap shop in New Perungalathur. Police said a few days ago Saravana Kumar and his friend Ajith Kumar (24), who also works in the same shop, consumed liquor together. During that time, as both of them were involved in a heated argument, Ajith Kumar attacked Saravana Kumar on his head using a wooden log. As Saravana Kumar did not visit the hospital for a check up and was doing his regular work in the shop, he suffered severe head ache.

On Saturday, he was admitted to a private hospital in Tambaram and a blood clot was found on his head. Later, he was referred to the Rajiv Gandhi government general hospital and was admitted to the ICU.

Meanwhile, based on hospital information, the Peerkankaranai police who visited the spot recorded a statement from Saravana Kumar and arrested Ajith Kumar. He was sent to prison.

On Monday early morning, Saravana Kumar died without responding to treatments the Peerkankaranai police registered a murder case against Ajith Kumar and further inquiry is on.
