CHENNAI: Officials of the Greater Chennai Corporation will meet with office-bearers of residents’ welfare associations of the Shollinganallur and Perungudi zones on August 25 on the importance of the integrated storm water drain (SWD) project on the East Coast Road.

According to sources, the corporation has proposed to make a presentation on the importance of the SWD project of the Kovalam basin for the public at large, which is being carried out under funding from KfW, the German Development bank.

The meeting will be held at 10 am in Suganya Thirumana Mandapam, Sandeep Avenue, Neelankarai.

The office bearers of the associations are requested to participate in the meeting and avail the opportunity to express their views regarding the SWD construction in the project area.

Meanwhile, the corporation has installed additional pump sets with a capacity of 22 horsepower to pump out 4,200 litres per minute at Nungambakkam subway and a 625 KVA generator to avoid flooding during the monsoon.

The capacity of the pump sets at the subway has gone up from 47.5 horsepower to 69.5 horsepower to pump out 11,700 litres/minute.
