BJP’s State IT wing head gets conditional bail
The Madras High Court on Monday granted conditional bail to BJP’s Tamil Nadu IT wing secretary CTR Nirmal Kumar in a case booked on charges of allegedly posting false information on his social media page.
Chennai: Justice G Jayachandran granted the relief to Nirmal Kumar on hearing his anticipatory bail application in which he submitted that he did not create that content but only shared it after receiving it from his circle. Nirmal Kumar also noted that he had appeared before the Central Crime Branch (CCB) for an inquiry and was ready to cooperate in the case for further proceedings.
In January, the BJP leader had posted a fake news photo in connection with the distribution of Pongal gift hamper, which allegedly depicted Food Minister R Sakakrappani in poor light. Following this, the CCB booked him under different sections of IPC.
After hearing both sides, the judge granted bail with a condition to delete the controversial post and also directed him to appear before the police whenever summoned. The judge also asked him to furnish Rs 25,000 bond with two sureties of the same amount.
