Former CBI officer K Ragothman, who was chief investigation officer probed the case of assassination of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, died in Chennai due to Covid related complications. He was 75. He believed that LTTE was used as a tool to assassinate Rajiv by international conspirators with the help of certain local politicians.
Ragothaman, had written book on sensational assassination of Rajiv Gandhi near Chennai in 1991, planned and executed by Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.
Ragothaman, who retired as CBI SP, was admitted to a private hospital at Tirumangalam three days ago. He breathed his last around 8 am on Wednesday. He is survived by his four children. His wife had died a few years ago.
During his more than three and half decades  in service, from the year 1968 he joined as a sub inspector in CBI in Delhi, He retired in the year 2006.
In recognition of his meritorious service, Ragothaman was awarded Police Medal in 1988 and President Medal for distinguished service in 1994.
After retirement, he produced a documentary 'Human Bomb' and published books inclduing 'Conspiracy to Kill Rajiv Gandhi'.
