While inaugurating the conservancy control room set up by the Urbaser-Sumeet on Friday, Corporation Commissioner G Prakash said the details of the garbage removed would be released on social media platforms, too. “Using the facility, residents can monitor abnormalities, if any, in the conservancy operations. Details will be released realtime on the website,” he said. Urbaser-Sumeet, the private consortium, has been handed over the conservancy works in seven of the 15 zones in the Corporation, including Adyar, Kodambakkam, Perungudi and Teynampet. The consortium had set up a control room in Perungudi to monitor the conservancy works in the seven zones.

“The control room will monitor the amount of garbage removed from a particular street and amount of garbage collected by the drivers of battery-operated vehicles. As the system is completely internet based, the conservancy operations can also be monitored from the Ripon Building, too,” Prakash added. Speaking about the waterlogging caused by the recent rain, Prakash said the city received highest rain in the month of January in several decades and a committee has been formed to rectify the shortcomings to prevent future problems.
