Narrow escape for trio after car rams median on OMR

Three persons, including a police Assistant Commissioner’s son, had a narrow escape after the car in which they were travelling overturned after hitting a median near Madhya Kailash on Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR) in the wee hours on Tuesday.

Among the occupants, J Naveen Raj, a private firm employee, is son of Koyambedu Assistant Commissioner Jayaraman. He, along with his friends Yashwant Raja of Kotturpuram and Arvind of Kolathur, was returning home when the vehicle lost control and toppled after hitting the median. As the car turned turtle, passersby rescued the trio from the car. Due to the accident, traffic was briefly affected on OMR until police removed the vehicle with the help of a tow vehicle. The trio was treated as out-patients at a private hospital. Adyar traffic investigation police have registered a case and further investigation is on. When contacted, officials said the trio was not under the influence of alcohol and the driver lost control after falling asleep.
