On November 11, three men barged into the house of Saravanan (43) of Chromepet and kidnapped him at gunpoint on his own car. On the way, history-sheeter ‘Seizing’ Raja (45) got inside and demanded Rs 20 lakh money to let him go. Saravanan agreed but said he did not have that much cash in hand. He then agreed to give Rs 10 lakh.

After collecting the money on next morning, the gang dropped him in a forest area in Sriperumbudur but said his car would be returned only after he paid the remaining Rs 10 lakh. Raja then began calling Saravanan repeatedly seeking the money.

Unable to deal with it any more, Saravanan filed a complaint at Chitlapakkam police station a few days ago. Early on Friday morning, the special team arrested Jayaraman (38), and based on the information he gave, officials tracked Raja to Tambaram and nabbed him.

The police seized a gun and seven knives from him. Officials said he bought the gun from north India. During investigation, they found Raja had six murder cases and over 40 kidnap cases pending against him in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

Now, a search is on to nab the rest of the gang members.
