The victim SP Pandian, an LPG stove dealer and DMK functionary of 18th Avenue in Ashok Nagar stated in his complaint that six men reached his house on Wednesday evening, claiming to be Crime Branch sleuths.

“Claiming they have news that I have been hiding countrymade guns, they made me, my wife and son sit in the hall even as they vandalised the house on the pretext of searching for the guns.

While leaving, they grabbed the mobile phones of all three of us and drove away in our car after threatening us not to mess with a few people (names withheld),” said SP Pandian.

Based on his complaint, KK Nagar police registered a case and launched a hunt for the suspects. When contacted, an official said that CCTV footage retrieved from his house shows six men entering his house. “However, we will know whether the gang robbed them only after the suspects are arrested,” added the official.

Police suspect that Pandian could have been threatened by men sent by his rivals in the business. Further investigation is on.

14 sovereigns missing from activist’s house

Meanwhile, Royala Nagar police have launched a hunt for unidentified persons who escaped with 14 sovereigns from activist and professor Sundaravalli’s house. Since cupboard and house doors were not broken open, police suspect somebody who has access to her house might have stolen the valuables. A case has been registered.
