Class 6 boy among four drown in a day

The pond was brimming due to the rains, and Dinakaran went missing around 11.30 am. After their search proved futile, his friends alerted the Korattur police, who passed on the information to the Fire and Rescue Services personnel of Ambattur Estate. They retrieved the teenager’s body which was sent to Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination. 

In a similar incident, Siva (42) of Patalam, an unmarried automobile mechanic, went to the pond in Kandasamy temple in Otteri around 9 am. While bathing, he slipped and fell into the pond. Others tried to rescue him, but in vain. The Otteri police sent his body to Government Stanley Medical College Hospital and a case has been registered. Meanwhile, the body Kanniappan (82) of TNEB Colony in Menambedu, who went missing two days ago, was retrieved from a pond in Ambattur on Tuesday morning. He is said to have been mentally-disturbed and had already gone missing once. On Sunday, he went missing again and his son Bhaskar lodged a complaint at Ambattur police station. 

Meanwhile, passers-by noticed a man’s body floating in a pond and alerted the Ambattur police. Bhaskar confirmed that the body was that of his father. It was sent to KMC Hospital for autopsy. In yet another incident, the body was an unidentified person was fished out from Adyar river near Manapakkam on Tuesday afternoon. 

The deceased is believed to be in his 30s, said police. Around 1 pm, passersby noticed the body stuck amid bushes in the river and alerted the Nandambakkam police. Fire and rescue personnel to accompanied them and managed to retrieve the body after three hours.
