The State government on Saturday passed an order allowing operation of both the public and private bus transport to Andhra Pradesh without e-registration. “The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh has requested to accord consent for the operation of inter-State services between Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh by respective State transport undertakings as per the provision of the inter State reciprocal agreement duly following the prescribed guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs from time to time,” the order said, adding that after careful consideration, it was decided to allow operation of the bus services from November 25.

The government had already allowed operation of interstate bus services to Puducherry from November 1 and Karnataka from November 16.

According to sources in the transport corporations, more than 150 buses would be operated to Tirupati, Nellore, Chittoor and Kalahasthi. “Following the permission of the Government of Tamil Nadu, we will run more than 150 buses from Chennai to Tirupati, Kalahasti and Nellore from the 25th on behalf of the State Transport Corporations.

An official of the Andhra Pradesh State Transport Corporation said that initially, it would operate 60 buses to Tamil Nadu from various destinations in the State as against 274 buses operated before the pandemic.

The buses will be operated to Chennai, Kancheepuram, Vellore and Puducherry and most of the buses will be to Chennai.
