STCs to operate 16,026 services till Wednesday

To facilitate the return of passengers who visited native places for Deepavali festival, the State-run transport corporations would operate 16,026 buses for four days starting Sunday, including 8,026 special buses to the city and other places.

According to the transport corporations, it would operate daily normal service of 2,000 buses along with special buses to the city and other places. To Chennai, the corporations would operate 3,416 special buses, while for other destinations, it would operate 4,610 for four days.

Several lakh passengers travelled from the city to various districts across the State on 8,753 buses between November 11 and 13. The special buses were operated according to segregated routes from four termini, including Madhavaram (bound for Uthukottai via Red Hills, Ponneri and Gummidipoondi), KK Nagar (Puducherry via ECR), Tambaram MEPZ (Tindivanam, Vikravandi, Panruti, and Kumbakonam), Poonamallee (Kancheepuram, Vellore, Arani, Arcot, Tirupattur and Dharmapuri), and Koyambedu (Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Tiruchy, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Salem and Coimbatore).
