The deceased MS Raghu (57), a resident of Gajapathy Street in Kilpauk, is said to have moved to Chennai a few years ago. Kilpauk inspector Murugesan, after preliminary inquiry, said Raghu was in the fourth stage of cancer. He was undergoing chemotherapy and was mentally disturbed for the last few days since his mother was also ill.

On Monday, Raghu reached the office as usual and after spending some time in his cabin on the first floor, reached the fifth floor by elevator. After removing his footwear, he jumped from there through a window around 12.15 pm and died on the spot.

Kilpauk police, who sent the body for post-mortem, initially thought it could be an accidental fall. But, inquiries revealed otherwise. Police said it is a new building and only the first two floors are occupied. A native of Chittoor, Raghu is survived by wife, son and daughter.

Kilpauk police have registered a case and further investigation is on.
