Condemning the murder, DMDK founder-leader Vijayakant wondered if this was the fate of a journalist working on public interest, what would be the situation faced by common people. The government should take steps to arrest those involved and ensure strict punishment to ensure that such incidents did not recur, he added.

“Though Moses had filed complaints to the police stating threat to his life, no action was taken on it resulting in murder. The State government should immediately arrest all those involved in Moses’s murder and should provide compensation of Rs 1 crore to his family,” demanded Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi leader T Velmurugan.

Moses, a journalist working with Tamilan TV in Kancheepuram, was hacked to death by a gang on Monday, allegedly after he exposed the sale of ganja in Kundrathur and also some shady land deals. The incident sent shock waves across the State, following which political parties urged the government to act fast in the case.

“When a gang murders a journalist for reporting about drug peddling, we must understand the power and dominance of such criminals in the society. The State government should nab the accused in Moses’s murder by forming special teams to stop drug peddling and should provide compensation of at least Rs 25 lakh to his family,” urged Naam Tamilar Katchi leader Seeman.
