A spotted deer was found dead amid bushes near Minjur on Friday. Passersby noticed the deer in Somanchery village and alerted Gummidipoondi Range Forest officials.

The officials reached the spot, removed the carcass and found that there were no external injuries. The cause of the death would be known only after a post-mortem examination. Somanchery residents said that deer from the forest area of Kattupallai often lose their way and stray into residential areas and meet with accidents.
