Mail your ideas for our manifesto, Stalin urges public

The principal opposition party has created an exclusive email id manifesto2021@dmk.in to which it has asked people to mail their suggestions.

DMK treasurer TR Baalu, who is also the coordinator of an eight-member committee constituted by the party to prepare its manifesto has also advised his party workers to send general and district-specific issues in person or through the post to the high command.

The committee on Wednesday met at party headquarters Anna Arivalayam under the leadership of party president MK Stalin for the first time since its inception a few days ago. Posting a message to this effect on his official Twitter handle, Stalin said the ideas could be sent to the party headquarters to prepare the manifesto which would help create a bright future for the state. “People’s ideas will be our manifesto. The manifesto will be our government,” Stalin remarked, adding that they would deliver on their promise and promise only what they deliver.

Known for its pompous poll promises since the 2006 Assembly election manifesto, which the then union finance minister P Chidambaram described as the ‘hero’ of the election, the DMK is expected to announce another election bonanza this time, like it did in last year’s Parliamentary election for which it had promised waiver of education loans.

Meeting with party workers ofKongu region on October 21

DMK president MK Stalin would chair an exclusive meeting of functionaries of six districts from Kongu region at party headquarters Anna Arivalayam on Wednesday, October 21.

An announcement made by DMK general secretary Duraimurugan said the party chief would discuss party related activities with the district, union, city, town and area secretaries of Karur, Namakkal, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur and Coimbatore districts next week. The meeting comes in the backdrop of its poll analyst I-PAC (Indian political Action Committee) apprising the DMK high command recently that the vote bank of the party has slipped marginally despite the anti-incumbency suffered by the ruling AIADMK.

DMK high command had recently divided party districts in Coimbatore and Namakkal and appointed secretaries for new districts with each district comprising two Assembly Constituencies.

Western Tamil Nadu had proved to be a stumbling block for DMK even in 2016 with the party losing over 50 Assembly seats to the ruling AIADMK there.

DMK sources revealed that the poll analyst was working on 100 Assembly constituencies (over half of them are in the Kongu region) where the party had lost in the last couple of Assembly polls.
