Healthcare staff from a private hospital in city tested all the staff on the ground floor of Anna Arivalayam on Tuesday morning. However, it was not extended to employees of Kalaignar TV functioning on the first to fourth floors of the same building or the staff of I-PAC.

A DMK source said testing was done as the staff on ground floor could have come in contact with district secretary M Subramanian and organising secretary RS Bharathi who had tested positive the same week. However, it is not clear whether party president MK Stalin and seniors like general secretary Duraimurugan and principal headquarters secretary KN Nehru underwent the test, though they had hosted a delegation from Congress last week.

Dinesh Gundu Rao, the AICC in charge of Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) who was part of the team, had declared that he had tested positive a couple of days after he called on Stalin and senior DMK leaders at Arivalayam.

Chepauk – Triplicane MLA and former district secretary J Anbazhagan was the first legislator in the country to succumb to COVID in June. Later, former secretary of North Chennai district L Balaraman had also died due to the infection.
