Inebriated thief falls asleep during robbery, house owner calls cops

The accused K Muthamizhselvan of Kolathur is said to be an engineering graduate but was delivering food for want of a jobe due to lockdown. To make some quick buck, he broke into a house in Adayalampattu near Vanagaram.

After managing to enter the house on Tuesday afternoon, he went to the first floor. Since a door was locked from inside, he decided to wait until somebody opens it. Since he was inebriated, he fell asleep on the terrace.

House owner Joe Prabakar, who went to the terrace in the evening, found Muthamizhselvan lying unconscious. When he woke him up, the accused tried to flee. He was secured and handed over to Maduravoyal police. He was remanded in judicial custody.

Duo sneaks into pharmacy, gets trapped

Similarly, two men who entered a pharmacy in Pallavaram were trapped since the shutter closed by itself. Police said the shop belongs to Thameem Ansari (30) of Bharathi Nagar in Old Pallavaram. He lives in the house behind the shop.

The accused, Venkatesh Raja (20) and Karthik (19) of Tambaram, gained entry into the medical store by breaking the lock on Tuesday night. Since they did not fully open the shutter, it shut and latched on automatically outside. Later, Thameem Ansari, upon hearing a noise, opened the shutters and handed over the duo to police. They were remanded on Wednesday.

Truck thief, drunk, let off by cops

Meanwhile, a truck that went missing from Red Hills was seized in Royapuram by traffic police on Tuesday night. However, only after letting the thief off after booking him for drunk driving, police found out that it was a stolen truck.
