Thunderstorms likely to continue in city for 2 days
Thunderstorms that the city witnessed in the late hours of Friday are likely to continue for the next 48 hours, said officials from the Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai, adding that districts, too, are likely to receive rains.

On Saturday, Nungambakkam recorded 57.3 mm and Meenambakkam 76.2 mm of rainfall. It was widespread across the city, including at Ayanavaram (56.2 mm), Egmore (56.8 mm), Guindy (43 mm), Mambalam (85.4 mm), Mylapore (76.8 mm), Perambur (75.3 mm), Purasaiwalkam (75 mm), Tondriapet (64.5 mm), Alandur (74.5 mm), Ambattur (52 mm) and Sholinganallur (81.6 mm).
Besides Chennai, Ghat areas of The Nilgiris around Pandalur, Gudalura, Kundah belts; Periyar belt in Theni and Kanniyakumari would see monsoon rains, said weather blogger Pradeep John.
