Chennai Metro extends its operation time till 9 pm

As a part of Central government's Covid-19 unlock 4 guidelines, Chennai metro service began its operation in the city on September 7.

The metro trains were operated between Washermenpet to Airport in the Blue line and between St. Thomas Mount and Puratchi Thalaivar Dr MG Ramachandran Central Metro in green line.

The metro saw minimum passenger footfall on the first day of its operation. Except a few office goers, the crowd was very limited. The minimum passengers who opted for metro, were seen wearing masks and following the social distancing norms. 

According to the recent update, the Chennai metro has announced that it has extended the operation time to an additional hour, as per public's request. The metro trains in Chennai will be operated from 7 am to 9 pm henceforth. This new announcement will be implemented from tomorrow in the city. 

The Chennai metro officials further announced that people must follow the social distancing norms strictly to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
