However, the mystery behind the woman’s murder remains unsolved as the main suspect Vijay Anand is still at large. Among dogs rescued from the GBD Farm at Thanipoondi village were five female Pitbulls including two puppies, a Rajapalayam, a Chipipara, three Doberman including two puppies, one Great Dane female and two Weimaraner female, apart from a fighter rooster and nine hens.

The farm belongs to one D Priyanka (36) of Secunderabad, who settled in the village a couple of years ago after the demise of her husband, along with her 12-year-old son. Her brother Vikram who lives in Secunderabad received a phone call from one Gordon Dominic Brogan on July 1 that his sister Priyanka has been missing, while the 12-year-old boy is in the custody of another man called Melvin. Gordan Dominic is said to be working for Priyanka in the farm.

Again, on August 1, Dominic sent him a message on WhatsApp that Priyanka could have been murdered by Vijay Anand who lives in the house located opposite to the farm and his two men, Nair and Melvin.

Panicked Vikram requested Dominic to bring his nephew to Secunderabad and booked flight tickets for both. After Dominic returned to Tiruvallur on August 3, Vikram tried to trace his sister through him, but in vain. Since her son also did not know anything about her mother’s whereabouts, Vikram lodged a complaint by email to Tiruvallur Police Superintendent P Aravindhan and a woman-missing case was registered by Pathirirvedu police on August 18.

Police picked up Melvin who revealed some shocking details that Priyanka was pushed into a swimming pool in his house and suffocated to death by Vijay Anand and they buried her body in the farm itself.

The body was exhumed and sent for post-mortem.

While Melvin was remanded in judicial custody, the main accused Vijay Anand and his accomplice Nair remain at large. When contacted, Pathirivedu police said only after the arrest of Vijay Anand the motive behind the murder will be known as Melvin has only helped Vijay

Anand to bury the body. “During the investigation, we came to know that Priyanka often visits Vijay Anand’s house and that they have been friendly. Also, the farm is located on poromboke land and there are no documents of ownership. Melvin took Priyanka’s son to his house as he stayed alone on the farm after his mother’s death,” said the investigation officer. Meanwhile, a hunt has been launched for Dominic too as he has been missing since the police complaint was lodged.

Neighbours stake claim to dogs, farm workers fancy fighter rooster

The Blue Cross staff had a tough time rescuing the dogs from the farm as some of the neighbours opposed to it claiming ownership to the dogs which they had given to Priyanka for maintenance. Also, those who used to work in the farm wanted to take the fighter rooster with them, but Blue Cross staff did not allow them. According to Blue Cross rescuers, all the dogs suffered from severe dehydration and tick infection. They are being treated in their shelter.
