Head constable dies of COVID in Chengalpattu

A 45-year-old police head constable, who was infected by coronavirus, died without responding to treatments on Wednesday.

The deceased, Sathish Kumar of Aathur village in Chengalpattu, was attached to the Thirukazhukundram police station. On August 18, Sathish started running a fever and was admitted to the Chengalpattu government hospital. Two days later, he tested positive for the virus and was shifted to a private hospital in Chromepet. On Wednesday morning, he died without responding to treatments. The police said that Sathish has served in the department for 23 years and he is survived by two school-going sons.

SB-CID manager succumbs

A ministerial staff posted at DGP office died of COVID on Wednesday. The deceased, Chandrasekar (58), was manager of the Special Branch-CID section. Chandrasekar, who tested positive on August 17 was admitted to Omandurar Government hospital, but his condition worsened on Tuesday and was breathing with ventilator support. However, he died without responding to treatment on Wednesday. Chandrasekar is the first ministerial staff to succumb to COVID in the city.
