Ganja turf war: Five of a gang held for murder of college student off OMR
Police, on Sunday, arrested five members of a gang for hacking to death a college student, who was working as a food delivery boy during the lockdown period, following a feud between two gangs over illegal sale of ganja in Kelambakkam off OMR on Friday night.

According to the police, the incident happened near the house of the victim, Harish, 21, when he was having paani poori with his friends. A gang of 10, who arrived there in two autorickshaws, started attacking Harish with sickles and despite Harish’s attempt to flee on his bike, chased and hacked him to death. The gang members then made good their escape in the vehicles they came.
Following the murder, senior police officials, including Chengalpattu SP, visited the spot and shifted the body to Chengalpattu GH.
The five arrested are identified as Sakthi, Shahul Hamid, Vinod and Deepak from Jothi Nagar. A few days ago Harish had allegedly assaulted a member of rival ganja pedalling gang which could have resulted in the murder, police suspect.
