1.1 lakh recoveries in Chennai, active covid cases at 9.8 per cent
Of the total 1,15,444 positive cases reported in Chennai, 1,01,689 people have recovered and been sent home, which is 88 per cent recovery rate, according to data provided by Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC).

A total 11,321 people are under treatment and 2.1 per cent (2,434) of the infected persons died due to COVID-19. Only 9.81 per cent of the total infected persons are being treated now.
Manali, Royapuram and Teynampet recorded 92%, 91% and 91% recovery rate respectively. Thiru Vi Ka Nagar and Tiruvottiyur crossed 90% recovery rate.
With 1,410 infected persons (18% active cases), Ambattur zone is the worst-affected as of now. With only 131 active cases, Manali zone has the lowest active case rate.
Seven of the 15 zones - Teynampet, Manali, Tiruvottiyur, Tondiarpet, Royapuram, Thiru Vi Ka Nagar and Anna Nagar have less than 10 percent active cases.
According to the GCC data, the average of seven days compounded average growth rate for the last seven days in Chennai is zero per cent on August 15. The data shared by the civic body in its Twitter page shows that eight of the 15 zones in the Corporation have recorded negative growth of new cases.
However, Manali zone has recorded the highest growth rate of 17.9 per cent for new cases while the Madhavaram has seen 5.7 per cent growth.
