Wet spell to continue in city, districts
After recording the highest amount of rainfall in the season thus far on Friday, the State received more rain on Saturday. According to the weathermen, showers are expected for a few more days.

According to S Balachandran, director, Regional Metrological Department, Chennai, the rains are a result of the interactions between the easterly trough and westerly trough over the State. “All areas of the State can expect moderate rainfall as the week goes on. Thunderstorms will be frequent in the evenings,” he said.
On Saturday, Meenambakkam recorded 19.4 mm of rainfall, while Nungambakkam recorded 5.4 mm. The minimum temperature at both stations was 23.2 and 24.2 degree Celsius respectively, while the maximum temperature was 34.8 and 34.8 degree Celsius respectively.
Light to moderate rains are expected at Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, The Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Erode and Chennai, as well as parts of Madurai and Dindigul.
Weather blogger Pradeep John said rains were expected in Chennai, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur region. “If the day is not warm, we can see rains in the late night to early morning. If the day is very hot, there will be chances of rain either at evening from sea breeze front, or late night due to storms moving from Vellore,” he said.
