Suchi told to delete video on custodial deaths

Singer Suchitra’s social media post, which had 18 million views on Instagram and 2 million views on Twitter across the globe on the Sathankulam custodial deaths was removed by her after the Tamil Nadu CB-CID requested that she take down the video. The post was instrumental in getting global attention towards the deaths of the father-son duo Jayaraj and Bennix.

“Forget the video - it’s job is done. Just watch what happens in this case from here on. That’s more important,” Suchitra tweeted on Friday night.

However, a CB-CID note tweeted by Thoothukudi police on Friday said, “Suchitra has now taken down these falsified contents on it being flagged to her.” The note further said that her descriptive narration was baseless and not truly indicative of the real happenings. “In this video she falsely exaggerated and sensationalised the chain of events and her allegations seem to be a figment of imagination and is not backed with proof. Investigation into the case does not find any substance in the allegation and the video is promoting hatred against cops,” the note said.
