After the intensified lockdown came into place from 19 June, patients from rural areas in the district, especially patients from Tiruvallur district, have been benefitting from this healthcare location.
The hospital authorities are likely to add 50 additional beds apart from the 100 existing ones. Two dedicated ambulances have been also arranged to transport patients to the hospital and back as there is no public transportation available.
Dr KM Cherian, the founder of Frontier Lifeline Hospital, said, “There are enough hospitals and dedicated beds to admit COVID-19 patients in the city and many of them are doing a great job. However, patients in villages and peripheries have been neglected. We have the facilities to help the people and would like to make optimum use of the opportunity for the betterment of the society,” he said.
He added that the State government should help the healthcare facilities with essential items, staff, medicines, food and basic amenities. Hospital authorities have also requested the government to provide staff to operate a Mobile Diagnostic Centre with lab facility, mobile x-ray and ECG Monitoring, available with them.
Doctors at the hospital say that many people who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 have had suicidal tendencies, therefore, it is also important to keep their spirits up and offer counselling to boost their mental health.
