    Beauty parlour owner attacked, women staff robbed

    A three-member gang attacked a beauty parlour owner and robbed the two women staff of Rs 15,000 and a mobile phone in Kodungaiyur.

    The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon when the victim Sameer (30) was at his parlour on the first floor of the building on Tondiarpet High Road. Three men who entered the parlour threatened the trio at knifepoint and demanded money. When Sameer refused, they attacked him with a knife, injuring his hand. When Sameer ran out in fear, the gang robbed the two women staff of Rs 15,000 and a mobile phone and fled.

    Sameer got himself admitted at a private hospital and on information, Kodungaiyur police rushed to the spot and conducted inquiries. A case has been registered and further investigation is on.

    In another incident, Tondiarpet police arrested four persons for attacking a 29-year-old man with weapons over previous enmity. The accused Babu (24), Appu alias Prabu (34), Raja Mohammed (38) and Sadam Hussain were remanded and a hunt has been launched for main suspect Mohana Sundaram. Police said Mohana Sundaram and Prabu, a history-sheeter, of the locality have an ongoing enmity. On Tuesday night, Mohanasundaram and his men surrounded Prabhu’s friend Panneerselvam and attacked him with weapons and fled the spot.

    Police probe astrologer's kidnap claim
    An astrologer has lodged a complaint with Ambattur police saying he was kidnapped by a duo, who claimed to be policemen, and demanded a ransom of Rs 7 lakh. Gopinath of Banu Nagar in Ambattur said the duo came to him to hold an urgent puja and took him on their bike to a house in Porur where they locked him up. Claiming to be cops, they sought Rs 7 lakh as a ransom to release him. On Wednesday, his wife received a call asking whether the ransom is ready. She then demanded to see her husband. Since the duo snapped the call, she approached Ambattur police. Meanwhile, Gopinath reached the station claiming the kidnappers dropped him at Vanagaram and escaped. Ambattur police are investigating.
