The office of the Director General of Police (DGP), Tamil Nadu has sought details of police personnel, officers and sanitary workers of the department who have contracted COVID-19, for granting of the Rs 2 lakh compensation. The unit officers should submit the personnel’s details including their service particulars, COVID test report and hospitalisation details.

The compensation has been envisaged in the Government Order (GO) of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department dated April 4. 

It makes officials of all categories, belonging to Health and Family Welfare Department, Revenue and Disaster Management department, police department, and sanitary and conservancy employees of rural and urban local bodies dealing with prevention work, and other departments directly involved in COVID-19 prevention, quarantine, identification and treatment activities eligible for free treatment if they contract the disease and an exgratia of Rs 2 lakh.
