Now, a DCP pens and sings for anti-corona music video

The city police have made a couple of songs on coronavirus and the importance of staying home. The latest to join the playlist is IPS officer R Thirunavukkarasu, Deputy Commissioner (Intelligence) of Greater Chennai Police.

The 3.5-minute-long song, penned and sung by Thirunavukkarasu, has the Chief Minister’s call to fight the pandemic: “Vizhithiru, Vilagi Iru Veetiliru (stay vigilant, maintain distance and stay home)” as the beginning lines.

The song, apart from considering the work of doctors and police, asks people not to step out unnecessarily to pave way for the virus spread. “We should make even those affected by COVID-19 feel better and make India disease-free,” the song conveys.

When contacted, Deputy Commissioner Thirunavukkarasu said the initial idea was just to release an audio song. “But after we recorded it on April 15, everyone suggested to make it an audio-visual for more impact,” said the official.

Thirunavukkarasu is known for his Thirukkural-based orations and motivational speeches.

The video also features the official’s wife Lavanya Shobana and their children apart from the television actor Rajkamal.

The music has been scored by Rithesh Manikandan.
