No escape: Corpn app to track quarantined cases

The application would also interact and provide medical advice to those who are home quarantined due to possible virus infection.

According to a Chennai Corporation press statement, the link to the Corona Monitoring App is made available at www.chennaicorporation.gov.in website. People could download the application and install it in their mobile phones also. “Using the mobile application, persons who have been quarantined and isolated can send their address with a photograph of their doors. The details will be saved in the Corporation database.

Also, persons with symptoms can also send their address and other details,” G Prakash, Chennai Corporation Commissioner said.

He also added that the details collected through the mobile application would be used to identify the affected localities and to conduct disinfectant drives.

Apart from having facilities for sharing address and photograph, the new mobile application also has a feature to report overcrowding and social distancing violations. As the photographs and details would be geotagged, it becomes easier to identify exact locations of affected persons and those who violate social distancing.

The residents, who could not use the new application can contact 044 25384520 number at Chennai Corporation control room. Personnel at the control room are keeping a track of those who are quarantined. Also, citizens can contact 044 46122300 to get clarification and medical assistance from the government. According to a government press release, as many as 2,10,538 passengers have been screened, 77,330 are under home quarantine and 81 are in quarantine facility across the State till Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the central government and other State governments are also leveraging technology to control the pandemic.
