3 more held for drunk driving in Tiruvallur

An autorickshaw was intercepted near Theradi at Tiruvallur around 12 pm by the police and its driver, B Chandrasekar (29) of Pandur, was tested positive for alcohol consumption. The vehicle was seized and Chandrasekar was arrested.

Similarly, V Marimuthu (45) Uthukottai Taluk, was secured during a vehicle check near Tiruvallur Toll Gate around 6 pm for driving a truck under the influence of alcohol. The duo was booked under Sections 4(1)(j) of Tamil Nadu Police Act and 185 of Motor Vehicles Act and remanded in judicial custody at Tiruvallur sub-jail for 15 days.

In another such arrest in Tiruvallur, 27-year-old Naseer of Thamaraikuppam was booked for drunk driving by the Uthukottai police at Dasukuppam and his two-wheeler was seized. He was remanded in judicial custody.

It may be noted that the Madras High Court recently asked the police to arrest people driving under the influence of alcohol.
