Kasimedu inspector shunted out for not acting on murder alert

A day after a 28-year-old history-sheeter from Singarvelan Nagar was hacked to death in Kasimedu police station limit, local Law and Order inspector Isakki Pandian was shunted out to control room. The decision was taken as Pandian failed to take steps to prevent the brutal murder despite intelligence input about the possible attack.

On Wednesday night, Divakar was hacked to death by a rival group and the gang surrendered before the inspector a few hours later.

After information about the sequence of events, superiors summoned the inspector to inquire why he failed to prevent the murder and why the suspects surrendered before him instead of surrendering before a court. Superiors felt that the inspector was treating the murder suspects with kids glove and transferred him on Friday.

The police noted that Divakar and the gang led by his rival Lokesh had an ongoing enmity over the area control and recently, Divakar had teased a member of Lokesh’s gang.

The Intelligence had sent a detailed input on the rivalry between the gangs and had warned of possible bloodshed. But Pandian failed to take note of it, sources said.

Police let actor’s harassers go, start hunt again

Two days after the police detained and questioned four persons, including a pizza delivery agent, the Teynampet all-women police station said that they are now hunting for the suspects who harassed an actor through obscene calls. Though the police had traced the suspects and questioned them earlier this week, after registering a case, the police team are now finding it difficult to locate the suspects. “The mobile phones of the four suspects are switched off,” police sources said. The actor started receiving obscene calls after a man, who delivered pizza at her house, posted her mobile number on adult socialmedia groups.
