Dry weather in city for next 48 hours: Metrological Department

The city is to witness dry and hot weather with clear skies for the next 48 hours, said the regional meteorological centre officials on Wednesday. For the past few days, the weather station recorded temperatures above normal showing a rise of about 1 degree Celsius to 3 degree Celsius.

“In Chennai, the weather condition is likely to be dry and sky will mainly remain clear for the next 48 hours. For the next 48 hours, the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 33 degree Celsius and 24 degree Celsius respectively. 

The minimum temperature was above normal at few places in the State, where it recorded about 1 degree Celsius to 3 degree Celsius,” said S Balachandran, Director, Regional Metrological Department, Chennai. On Wednesday, the maximum temperatures in Nungambakkam were 32.9 degree Celsius, while Meenambakkam recorded 33.2 degree Celsius. The minimum temperatures recorded were 25.0 degree Celsius and 24.2 degree Celsius at Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam respectively. 

However, Tamil Nadu weatherman Pradeep John forecasted that the State could get rainfall next week. “Days to watch out for rains in State is on March 6 to 8, if the trough from westerly dips deep to north Tamil Nadu. Vellore and Tiruvallur are ideally located as of now, being in the northern fringes. Its light to moderate rains, don’t keep hopes too high,” he said.
