Stalker sets jawan’s wife on fire, held
A 26-year-old woman, wife of an army man and a mother of two children, was set on fire by a stalker at a private construction firm at Vadalur in Cuddalore district on Friday.

The woman is currently undergoing treatment at the Cuddalore government General hospital while the stalker was subsequently arrested after locals handed him over to the police.
The reports received at the police headquarters here said, the victim, Salomi, who suffered 20 per cent burns, was first rushed to the Kurinjipadi General Hospital from where she was later referred to the Cuddalore government General hospital for advanced treatment. Salomi, wife of John Victor (30), who has been serving in the Indian Army, was out of danger, the reports said.
The stalker, Sundaramoorthy, a private bus conductor, was overpowered by the locals, who thrashed him and handed him over to the police.
The police said Salomi, a resident of Neyveli, who was working in a private construction firm in Vadalur, used to travel for work on the private bus.
Though both of them knew each other, the woman stopped talking to him after he proposed to her, which had infuriated the accused.
When Salomi got down from the bus and went for work as usual on Friday morning, Sundaramoorthy followed her to office, doused her with petrol and set her on fire. Hearing her screams, locals rushed her to the hospital.
When Sundaramoorthy tried to flee the spot, he was overpowered and caught by locals and those inthe vicinity. Later they handed him over to theVadalur police, who have registered a case and arrested him.
