Advertisement on Kudimaramathu soon in theatres

“In all the theatres across the State, a five-minute video on Kudimaramathu scheme will be screened during the interval breaks. The Tamil Nadu Film Division has submitted the short film before the examining committee of the Central Board of Film Certification. The short film will speak about the importance of restoring and protecting the water bodies from pollution and encroachment in the state,” said A Palaniswamy, Executive Engineer, PWD.

It was in 2016–2017 that the project was launched incorporating 1,513 lakes in 30 districts at a cost of Rs 100 crore. In 2017-2018, as many as 1,511 lakes in 29 districts were desilted for Rs 328.95 crore. Similarly, in 2019-2020, work on 1,829 lakes in 29 districts was initiated for Rs 500 crore.

“The video shows how the farmers are contributing money and materials to restore the water bodies. Also, the video will reveal the traditional methods of desilting, which have found a fresh lease of life through this scheme,” said Palaniswamy.
