CB-CID arrests 5 more, including 2 VAOs, in TNPSC examination scam
The CB-CID sleuths investigating the TNPSC scam arrested five more persons, including two VAOs and three drivers, taking the total number of people arrested so far to 40 on Monday.

The CB-CID is currently investigating three TNPSC examinations — 2019 group IV, 2017 group 2A and 2016 VAO test — in which large scale malpractices were suspected to have taken place.
On Monday, the investigation agency arrested K Karthik and T Senthilkumar of Ennore and Sabudeen of Perambur. They were involved in escorting the vehicles used by Jayakumar, the mastermind of the scam, and Omkanthan, TNPSC staff, while tampering the answer sheets on the night of September 1, last year.
The duo drove pilot to the main accused’s vehicles to make sure there were no police checking en-route.
The police had already seized the car used by Omkanthan and another four-wheeler belonging to the arrested driver, Karthik.
The investigation agency further noted that they have arrested two VAOs in connection with the 2016 VAO examination malpractice in Ilayangudi, Sivagangai district.
The arrested were identified as A Pannerselvam, who has been working as VAO in Tirunelveli district and A Senthilraj of Chennai, working as VAO in Tiruvallur district.
They had paid Rs 7 lakh each to Jayakumar to tamper their answer sheets and secure VAO posts.
Jayakumar, who is now in the custody of the CB-CID for detailed interrogation, had collected crores of rupees from job aspirants looking for a shortcut to pass TNPSC examination.
The police suspect that he had been active during the last 10 years and been indulging in similar malpractices. He had at least three houses in Chennai besides many other investments, sources said.
